Meet My Office

At the end of last year, I decided that I just could not stand my office anymore. It was "dirty" (not like a pig pen, but you understand), and the walls were this drab and depressing industrial blue. It was cluttered, the furniture too close together, and I had all these craft supplies that I didn't use anymore taking up too much space.

I finished the other day. First off was packing up everything I didn't use anymore and putting it away. Then it was pulling every piece of furniture away from the walls and heading off to Home Depot to choose a paint color. Since I am going to be using this as a photography "studio" as well as continuing to do my art, I needed something that wouldn't interfere with either... but I didn't want stark white, either. I finally chose "Mulberry White", which, of course, is white, but with a tiny tinge of lilac underneath. While I waited for the two coats to dry (and Mr. Calm to get on the ladder and paint where the walls met the ceiling), I took my Mr. Clean Miracle scrubbers (oh, they're WONDERFUL!) and cleaned nearly every single thing in here.

After that, it was just a matter of deciding where I wanted everything. And I am SO happy with my "new" room. The only thing left is to mop, but I have to wait another day on that-- I sort of put out my shoulder with all the painting and cleaning and moving. It's roomy, it's so clean and much brighter now.

Voila! I realize that the following pictures may not do the room justice, may not make it look as bright as it really is, but I forgot to open the curtains when I took pix. Here is my worktable, which I also painted the top of white so I could take pictures. Those ribbons are from the big contests I won at the state fair. And my little t.v. in the corner where ID TV ("Murder t.v.") generally plays.

Next to the door, I have a bookshelf that's mostly filled with my cameras, and odds and ends that don't "fit" anywhere. And oh, look-- that box contains my doll Evie the Creep. My favorite doll finally found a home, and will be on her way to Arizona today.

On the other side of the kitchen door are my other bookshelves, crammed to the hilt with my art and dollmaking supplies. The wooden bins are where I keep my fabrics, wool, and sewing sundries. That hoop is my exercise hoop-- it's fun, and you sure do feel it!

I decided to display my dollhouse food on a shelf. I want to get some of those triangle-shaped banners to hang on the shelf, sunny it up a bit.

And imagine me sitting here right now, because that's where I am. This is where the online magic happens, folks. I took out all my Disney pins and displayed them behind my desk. In the corner are my printers, neither of which have enough ink right now.

My big picture window. I like watching the rain or (occasional) snow that falls.

And just for fun, this is what my legs and feet generally look like while I'm sitting here. I call them my Dr. Seuss jammies.

Oh, yeah, please ignore the yucky garage floor beyond my feet.

I started thinking of this as my little meditation area. Mr. Calm got me the rock/candle/diffuser set for Christmas, and it has a wonderful "Amber Allure" fragrance: slightly fruity.

And that's it! Now you know where I sit, where I create, where I zone out.
