New Artwork, Wheeee!

I sat down with my Christmas-themed pencil (I'm easy when it comes to pencils) and Bristol board on Monday and started drawing. When it came time to coloring, I got out all my watercolors, dipped my tiny-tipped paintbrush in water, looked at my drawing... and decided that they'd look better with markers. Hey, what can I say? My brain works in funny ways.

The best thing is, for the first time in months, I am supremely happy with what I have done. I'm happy! Before I even began drawing, I decoupaged pages from a 1908 copy of Muncey's magazine onto these 6x6 canvasses that I'd gotten from the local art store on Black Friday, then painted a wash over them. And I'd decided I didn't want to draw the way I'd been for years. I'd like to thank OD for posing for multiple pictures so I would have a model to sketch from.

"I Need to Know" ("Tell me your secret... I must know...")

"No Other Choice" ("They did not mourn his passing... for they were the ones to help him pass...")

"Thou Shalt Not Covet" ("She coveted his wife's ring... so she took it...")

These will be going to the gallery this week in time to be hung for the holiday show opening night party. In the meantime, I'm going to be working on one other bigger piece. I know these things should be saved... but I'll be taking some pages out of a 1969 Life magazine for the background for that one.

Yay for productivity and happiness! Now let's get some hope up for some sales...

Wow...I can see why you are happy with these pieces, they are powerful! It's nice to challenge yourself to work in different processes than normal sometimes. Taking these risks can lead to great things!

These are fabulous! The red one just seems to pop off the page! And I'm loving the background story on Thou Shalt not Covet -- perfect for your painting!! (which, of course, is why you used it LOL!)

Of course the lady with the wine is my favorite :)
I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the creative process once again!
Isn't it fun to try something new and experiment! My laser was the best thing that happened to my creativity!!!

Love this new style of artwork. It's really terrific, different enough to give you a creative boost, but with a few whispers of your old style.
