Tomato Art!

I've been working on my tomato art for the festival in August (among other things... it's been a pretty productive year). Here are two of my pieces:

La Reine des Tomates (mixed media on canvas). This piece was a little hard just because of the sewing. I DON'T SEW. But I can make messy whip (?) stitches and hide them well. I think I was partly inspired by the yard of red tulle in with my supplies.

Emptying the Nest (mixed media on wood). This one's as done as it's gonna be. I LOVElovelove the mother in this, especially her nose, but the rest of the piece doesn't quite do it for me (like it, don't love it). By the way, she reminds both my husband and older daughter of one of the faces Alec Baldwin makes in "Beetlejuice".

No digital coloring this time. I'm really getting back into, and enjoying the hell out of, my markers.
In photography news, I got a Colorpack II to replace my Minute Maker (with its funky faulty electric eye), and it works! So, I'll hopefully have new pix soon.
